Soak the beans for about 1 day, overnight works great. The package directions will be helpful if needed.
Boil the beans until soft, follow the package directions for time.
Preheat the smoker to about 300 Degrees F.
Combine the rest of the ingredients in a bowl and mix until well combined.
Pour the cooked beans into a pan for smoking, we like the aluminum foil pans for easy transporting, clean up, and smoking.
Add the sauce to the pan and mix until everything is coated really well.
Put the beans on the smoker uncovered for about 3 hours.
Halfway through we added about 2 cups of water or ham broth and stirred the beans to make sure they didn't dry out.
